At the 2025 Missouri Annual Conference, held under the powerful theme "Illumine: Be the Light," clergy and lay delegates from across the state gathered for worship, reflection, and renewal.

Bishop Bob Farr offered a deeply moving and courageous episcopal address, encouraging all churches to love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in a world that longs for hope and healing.

Representing Independence First UMC, Pastor Dr. Lydia Istomina and Lay Leader Sue Shineman brought with them our symbol of joyful outreach—Flat Jesus—as a visual reminder that faith travels with us wherever we go. As we journey toward our 190th Anniversary, Independence First UMC continues to take bold steps forward: launching new ministries, embracing creative outreach, and opening our doors to connect with new people.
